One Day 'Til Christmas

I am so ready for Christmas. Are you?  What prepares us for Christmas anyway?  You have to put it all into perspective. For some Christmas is a sad time, for others a happy time, a happy season. I love Christmas. It shouldn't all be about the gifts and the goods and the glitter. It should be a time for reflection on our faith.  A time for family to come together. A time to take advantage and say, "I'm sorry" to an offended loved one.

I always like to sit by the fire and watch a nice Christmas themed movies or comedy. Nothing like drinking a hot cocoa or chocolate and just enjoying the time with family and loved ones.  And if you don't have any loved ones nearby, enjoy it all by yourself.

This year, my daughter and I decided to make our own Christmas tree. We used the metal or wiring of a golf umbrella. I had removed the cloth. We placed the umbrella in a beautiful white vase, placed small rocks and then old newspaper pieces to cause the umbrella to stand upright.  Then we used paper maiche to decorate the "tree". All different colors. We cut out the balls using shimmery decorative paper, then we placed the "white star" on the top, also made of paper. Next I pulled out a shiny green ribbon, that I had saved from years prior, that had the words, "Merry Christmas" all over it. (I got that at a Hobby Lobby in Texas), one of my favorite stores. And "Wala" we had the most beautiful tree. Our tree has received quite a few compliments.

See no need to run up your credit cards during this difficult time with the economy being the way it is.

Celebrate Christmas and its real meaning in your heart with the people you care about.

Merry Christmas!
