How to Create
Creating is like breathing for some people. They are like what Steven Spielberg is in the movie arena. But how is it that these people come up with new and innovative ideas? Someone once said, "You have to fill the bucket. If the bucket is empty there is nothing to draw from. Fill the bucket." How do you fill your bucket? Let's say you are in the design business. You need to come up with a new line of chairs. Well, first of all there is an exclusive amount of designer chairs in the market. Some of these chairs are so unique in design that they've made it to a fancy museum. Could you imagine one of your designs in a museum? That would be quite cool. You will need to plan precisely what you will need to do. To think is the first thing you need to do. Just be still. Being still requires some effort on your part. It is a discipline you will need to master. That alone will take time. So, here is a suggestion. Spend time alone. Many people are afraid to be alone. Some of the great masters of design actually were alone a lot. It was to their benefit. Some of the best novels were written by very "alone" type people. Don't be afraid of it...embrace it. Second, plan your visual. What do I mean by that? The answer you are looking for could be right in front of your nose. How many times have we all just looked up to notice that a cloud up in the blue sky looks like...uhhh...Mickey Mouse. I'm being funny with my example, but you know that it is true. We've actually enjoyed these games even as kids once, remember? The shape and form of what you might be looking for could come in this unique manner. It could even come by just observing a crack on the wall. Third, play. When was the last time you played? The experts in child development say that play is essential in a kids life. Take away play from a kid and it is like taking away their life. There is an innovative company in The United States right now that embraces play deeply. The employees get to play for progress in the designs and ideas they want to come up with. The physical location inspires deep creativity. Fourth, you need to really pay attention to your dreams. Now this is quite an interesting one. Many inventions have come about through a dream that the inventor had. Make sure your sleeping condition is next to excellent. Be provided with good ventilation, comfortable pillow, cozy pajamas, the works. It is worth it. It will pay off. Dreams can get really wacky; hey, maybe you need that "wacky" idea. It will come if you plan it. Invite it. Fifth, don't disregard something that might come to you suddenly because it doesn't make sense right away. Take note of it (literally) and hold on to it for awhile and develop it. And Sixth, be observant. Don't take anything for granted. Everywhere you go take notice of things, items, spaces, textures, sounds, etc. The list could be endless. Once you train your brain to be creative, you will notice that more and more will come to you. Remember, God is the Giver of all gifts. Thank Him for the inspiration that comes to you. That new song that will bring joy to millions, or that new book that perhaps, through many mishaps you were able to write will ponder the hearts of many. Think creatively and never stop.
